Hi I’m participating in this year’s Spookaton. It is a read-a-ton which runs from 17 October to 23 October. Spookaton is hostet by BooksandLala & Paige’s Pages & Bookerly. This read-a-thon is all about the spooky books that fits the Halloween season. You can read whatever you want that is spooky/scary/thrilling. There is 5 challenges you can follow if you want.
I don’t like very scary things with ghosts etc. What I hate the most in horror movies is the scary sounds and jumpscares. Books may be more okay for me because they don’t contain that. I want to go out of my comfort zone and read some horror and thriller books. Maybe I find out that I really love those genres. I’m planning to read 3 books but I have 4 on my list. Here is my list and the challenges for the Spookaton:
-
Read a thriller
The Butterfly Garden by Dot Hutchison
This is a thriller obviously. I think I will start with this book. And I’m going to be listening to the audiobook version.
-
Read a book with red on the cover
Dark Matter by Blake Crouch
This is a science fiction, thriller, mystery. And the main color on the cover is red.
-
Read a book with a spooky word in the title
A Monster Calls by Patric Ness
Monster is the spooky word. I’m not sure if I will read or listen to this book.
-
Read a 2016 release
The Butterfly Garden by Dot Hutchison & Dark Matter by Blake Crouch
The Butterfly Garden and Dark Matter are both 2016 releases.
-
Read a book with a paranormal character/creature
Hollow City by Ransom Riggs
This is the book 2 in Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar Children. I found book one to be a little bit spooky. There is paranormal characters and creatures in this book.
