Top 5 Wednesday is created by Gingerreadslainey. Each week there is a new bookish topic, where everyone can join and create their top 5 list. You can find more information on the Top 5 Wednesday goodreads group. This week’s topic is:
Favorite Spooky Settings
-These can be settings that exist in books or ones you’d like to see in books. Also, if you are like me, you don’t really have to make this about horror or scary settings. You can also use eerie, atmospheric settings. Macabre settings. Eclectic settings. I’m not a scary horror person either, but I do enjoy the latter.
The Hotel in Psycho
Psycho by Robert Bloch is one of my favorite books in the horror genre. The setting of the run down motel and the odd manager Norman Bates makes a good mix for a creepy setting.
Zombies
I actually really like zombie stuff. I need to need more books with zombies. If you have any recommendations write them in the comment section.
Good examples are The Girl With all the Gifts by M.R. Carey, The walking dead TV series and one of my favorite games The Last of Us.
The End of the World / Post Apocalyptic
I like books set in a The End of the Word or post apocalyptic setting. Often where the characters has to survive. The Road by Cormac McCarthy is a good example, and the Fallout games. There is one scene in The Road that shocked me and almost made me sick.
Crazy Person’s mind
This is not really a setting, but I find it interesting to read from a crazy person perspective. The person’s mind can be the setting I guess. Like the narrator in the book I’m currently reading, You by Caroline Kepnes. Other examples are Norman Bates from Psycho or the person in Gone Girl (I don’t want to spoil).
My list is all Harry Potter related.

I was thinking of adding the forbidden forest from Harry Potter haha. I probably should since I only have 4 points. But I didn’t have time today.
