December has been a very hectic month, because of Christmas preparation, Christmas parties and of course Christmas. You can read about my Christmas HERE. Hope you all had a wonderful holiday, and I want to wish you all a HAPPY NEW YEAR!
I was planning on reading more books in December, but I’m really satisfied that I was able to finish 5 books. I have read some highly anticipated books for me this month. I was so hyped for these books, but they all let me down. I’m so disappointed by every book I read. I’m going to write reviews on all of these books that goes deeper into details.
I read a total of 2083 pages this month.

What I Read
Red Seas Under Red Skies by Scott Lynch
Book 2 in The Gentleman Bastards series
I really loved book one in this series, The Lies of Locke Lamora. I was really eager to read book 2, and continue reading about Locke and Jean. I didn’t like this book as much as I liked book one, but it is still a good book. 4 stars
The Golden Compass by Philip Pullman
Book 1 in His Dark Materials series
This book is a popular children’s fantasy book, that has won awards. I know a lot of people love this and I was really interested in reading it. Even though I liked some parts of it, this book wasn’t for me. 3 stars
The Twelve Days of Dash and Lily by Rachel Cohn & David Levithan
Book 2 in Dash & Lily duology
I loved book one in this duology when I read it last Christmas, but this book was kind of meh. Not great, but it didn’t suck either. 2.5 stars
Gemina by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff
Book 2 in The Illuminae Files series
I was highly looking forward to this book and it is one of my most anticipated books, because I love Illuminae. I love the mixed media and the story of book 1. I’m really sad that I didn’t like Gemina, and I’m very disappointed by it. I gave it 2 stars.
What Light by Jay Asher
This was the only book on this list that I didn’t plan to read this month. I didn’t know anything about it before I started it. I only knew it was a Christmas themed book, and that the cover is beautiful. This book wasn’t for me at all, and I had to give it 1 stars.

-What Did You Read This Month?
Same with Gemina, I was so disappointed it nearly made me cry because I had such high hopes for it!

I really want to read His Dark Materials trilogy, I’ve heard great things about it. I’ll give it a try from the library before buying it.
I listed to the audiobook for Illuminae and liked it. The first half wasn’t for me, but the second part of the book was awesome! I’m hesitant to pick up Gemina and reading about your thoughts on this sequel confirm my fear hahah

I think some people might love it, so give it a try 🙂
I’m going to the next book when it comes out, I hope book 3 is going to be as great as illuminae.

I haven’t finished Gemina because the reading slump is still around. Why don’t you like Gemina?

Oh no reading slumps are the worst. I found the characters really annoying, I can’t say my biggest problem with it without spoiling the book.

Oh no! I haven’t read Gemina yet, but I have really high hopes! I’ve seen a lot of let-down reviews though, so I’m scared!
Happy new year 🙂

I have heard really good things about Gemina and The Golden Compass. Illuminae is really good, but unfortunately I didn’t like Gemina 😦 You should give the series a try though 🙂
