Top 5 Wednesday is created by Gingerreadslainey. Each week there is a new bookish topic, where everyone can join and create their top 5 list. You can find more information on the Top 5 Wednesday goodreads group. This week’s topic is:
– We’ve talked about series that went downhill with each book, but talk about series that are worth pushing through the first (or first few…) books to get to the good stuff!
I couldn’t find 5 series for this weeks topic, sorry for that.
Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi
I haven’t read the 3rd book in this series yet, but I have read book one and two. I liked the second book so much more than the first book, and I hope and think that I will like book 3. Even though this series isn’t my favorite, and I don’t think they are the best written books of all time, they are pretty fun to read.
The Winner’s Trilogy by Marie Rutkoski
This is a YA fantasy trilogy that I’m loving. I really liked the first book, but I’m picking this series because book 2 is my favorite.

Unpopular opinion but I really hated the Shatter Me series… It has an interesting premise, but I think I just didn’t like any of the characters. I’m glad you enjoy it tho! 😊

Can understand why you didn’t like it. It is a 3 star rating for me.

Loool I didn’t hate the first book, and actually liked it quite a bit. Some time passed and I was curious about Book 2, read it and… I didn’t know if it was because of the time that had passed or that I genuinely didn’t enjoy, but… I didn’t enjoy. So book 3 is still in the air. Haha, so for me it might actually be the opposite? Like the first but enjoyment goes down with the sequels?
I never read the other book series but I really want to though!

All posts I’ve seen had didn’t have these two series mentioned once!
The Lunar Chronicles: saw those a thousand times by now.
Same for A Court of Thorns and Roses.
Even Harry Potter has been mentioned a couple of times, haha!
I honestly haven’t read the two series you mentioned – yet. Someday! Eventually..

I don’t get why some people put HP on their list. I love All of the books.

Love them all as well, but rereading them now I just feel like you can see how Rowling has grown through the series – which makes me like / appreciate the sequels that tad more, haha.

That’s true. The books did change a lot from book 1 to the last.
