Vacation TBR – The Books I’m Taking With Me On Vacation

I’m leaving for Croatia on Saturday. I’m so excited for my first vacation in many years. I have struggled with an illness called ME/CFS for the last 5 years, and been very ill. The last year and a half I have been slowly getting better. I’m far from “normal”, but it is a huge step from how it used to be. This vacation is going to be a big milestone in my recovery, and I’m really looking forward to the trip. I’m also very anxious, but I will not let that stop me.

20170705_141315

Ok so over to this post, I want to tell you about the books I’m taking with me to Croatia. I narrowed it down to 3 books. I don’t think I will be reading more than 3 books, and if I do I have my Kindle and audiobooks. My criteria was: not too long, easy to read, paperback and that I already owns it. A lot of the books I owned didn’t make my criteria, but I found some that did.

The Titan’s Curse & The Battle of the Labyrinth by Rick Riordan

Book 3 and 4 in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series

It’s been a while since I read book 1 and 2, it was some time last year. I have been wanting to pick the series up again, and finish it this year. Since it is a middle grade series, it’s fast paced and easy to read. It’s perfect to read by the pool because I don’t have to focus on the book too much while reading. The books also fits all my criteria.

The Girls by Emma Cline

This book sounds really interesting, so I thought it would be fun to take with me on the vacation. I hope it is an easy read and not too slow. The book is only 355 pages, so it fits all my criteria.

That was all of the physical books I’m taking with me to Croatia. I might have to take with me the book I’m currently reading, if I don’t finish it before I leave. The one extra book will be Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi, I hope to finish it before though. I’m also taking with me some audiobooks that I have downloaded on my phone.

I have downloaded:

1. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (Harry Potter #5) by J.K. Rowling

2. Kaninjegeren (Joona Linna, #6) by Lars Kepler (The Rabbit Hunter)

3. Ramona Blue by Julie Murphy

I’m not going to list books from my Kindle.

What do you think of my TBR? Which books would you take with you on a vacation?

That is 12 books. 12 BOOKS! Help me! Why am I always so ambitious with my TBR lists? Haha, I’ll try to read them all, but I can’t promise that I will succeed.

6 of the books fits the Beat The Backlist Challenge

3 of the books first the Dystopian Bingo

The Book of Strange New Things by Michel Faber

I’m halfway through this book, and I’m loving it so far. It has taken me a while to read because it is the kind of book that takes longer to read. I can only read 30 pages an hour in this book. It is really good though.

The Snow Child by Eowyn Ivey

I’m not enjoying this book, and I don’t know if I want to continue reading it. I’m going to give it one more month, and if I don’t finish it I’m going to DNF it.

#famous by Jilly Gagnon

I’m listening to the audiobook version of this book, and I’m almost finished with it. The book is just ok so far, nothing special. Probably a 2 or 3 star read.

Grave Peril by Jim Butcher

Book 3 in The Dresden Files

I’m almost halfway through this book, and I like it so far. It is not my favorite, but enjoyable. I hope that the series will get better, because I have heard great things about it.

Want to start.png

Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel

Every month I’m going to randomly pick one book from my Beat The Backlist Challenge list, that I have to read. This month I randomly generated the letter M, and I picked Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel to read.

I wanted to read this book for the longest time. Finally I’m going to pick it up, and I’m really looking forward to reading it.

Upside of Unrequited by Becky Albertalli

Sadly I didn’t manage to get to this book before March was over, so I had to add it to this month’s TBR as well. I received this book from Netgalley as an eArc, and I’m so happy about that. Her other book, Simon V.S. The Homo Sapiens Agenda was one of my favorite reads of last year. I’m really pumped to read and review this book.

Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi

Book 2 in Shatter Me

I read Shatter Me last month, and I liked it. I think the series will get better with book 2. I’m going to borrow a copy from the library, and hopefully get to it this month.

This is  the audiobook I will be listening to after the Tome Topple readathon.

February 2017 To Be Read

The plan was to not pick too many books for this month, because of my reading/blog pause in January. But guess what this TBR is on the larger side for me. I always over estimate myself with these TBR lists haha, but it is great to have different options.

Books I Want To Continue Reading

The Republic of Thieves by Scott Lynch

Book 3 in The Gentleman Bastards

80% read. I am almost finished with this book. It is the last one in The Gentleman Bastards series that is currently out. I’m in LOVE with this series and this book, and I don’t want it to end. This book series, especially book 1 and 3 is incredible and have become my all time favorite books.

Morning Star by Pierce Brown

Book 3 in Red Rising

28% read. I took a break from this book because of the Biannual Bibliothon, and didn’t pick it up again. Now I want to continue reading this book and hopefully finish it in February. I really enjoy this series, and so far this book is really exciting.

Final Girls by Riley Sager

16% read. I received this book as an eArc from Netgalley. I don’t know what I feel about it yet, but I want to continue reading it.

Books I Want To Start

The Book of Strange New Things by Michel Faber

Every month I’m going to randomly pick one book from my Beat The Backlist Challenge list that I have to read. This month I randomly generated the letter F, and I picked The Book of Strange New Things by Michel Faber to read.

The Titan’s Curse by Rick Riordan

Book 3 in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians

I need to have some books that is easy and fun to read this month. I really like this middle grade fantasy series and I bet a lot of you do too.

The Miserable Mill by Lemony Snicket

Book 4 in A Series of Unfortunate Events

The Austere Academy by Lemony Snicket

Book 5 in A Series of Unfortunate Events

The Ersatz Elevator by Lemony Snicket

Book 6 in A Series of Unfortunate Events

The Vile Village by Lemony Snicket

Book 7 A Series of Unfortunate Events

I have so much fun reading this children’s series, even though I’m an adult and not the target audience for it. I really like the humor and the narrator in this series, and that the story often gets really dark. I wish I had read the books as a kid, I would probably be shit scared of Count Olaf and his companions. The books are really short so I’m planning on reading 4 of the books in February. I want to read all of the books in the series before I watch the new Netflix show.

The Girl From Old Nichol by Betty Annand

I received this book as an eArc from Netgalley. I have started it (because this post is a bit late). I don’t know if I like it so far.

THE SNOW CHILD BY EOWYN IVEY

This book was on my TBR last month, but I didn’t pick it up. I hope to get to it this month. I really want to read it before the winter is over.
