Spookaton To Be Read

Hi I’m participating in this year’s Spookaton. It is a read-a-ton which runs from 17 October to 23 October. Spookaton is hostet by BooksandLala & Paige’s Pages & BookerlyThis read-a-thon is all about the spooky books that fits the Halloween season. You can read whatever you want that is spooky/scary/thrilling. There is 5 challenges you can follow if you want.

I don’t like very scary things with ghosts etc. What I hate the most in horror movies is the scary sounds and jumpscares. Books may be more okay for me because they don’t contain that. I want to go out of my comfort zone and read some horror and thriller books. Maybe I find out that I really love those genres. I’m planning to read 3 books but I have 4 on my list. Here is my list and the challenges for the Spookaton:

  1. Read a thriller

The Butterfly Garden by Dot Hutchison

This is a thriller obviously. I think I will start with this book. And I’m going to be listening to the audiobook version.

  1. Read a book with red on the cover

Dark Matter by Blake Crouch

This is a science fiction, thriller, mystery. And the main color on the cover is red.

  1. Read a book with a spooky word in the title

A Monster Calls by Patric Ness

Monster is the spooky word. I’m not sure if I will read or listen to this book.

  1. Read a 2016 release

The Butterfly Garden by Dot Hutchison & Dark Matter by Blake Crouch

The Butterfly Garden and Dark Matter are both 2016 releases.

  1. Read a book with a paranormal character/creature

Hollow City by Ransom Riggs

This is the book 2 in Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar Children. I found book one to be a little bit spooky. There is paranormal characters and creatures in this book.

-Are you planning on participating in the Spookaton?

Bout of Books 17 Wrap Up

This read-a-thon did not go too well. I did not read that much, and I did not read every day. But I read a little bit, and that is better than nothing. My goals for this week was not very high anyways. The only goal was finish Outlander, but I did not finish it. I joined the read-a-thon to try to get out of a reading slump. I do not know if it worked yet. I have to see this week, if I want to read more again.

I didn’t write a log for this week, because it would be boring.

This is what I read:

  • Outlander by Diana Gabaldon ca 100 pages
  • The Winners Kiss by Marie Rutkoski ca 200 pages

– Did the reading week go better for you? What did you read? –

Bout Of Books 17 TBR

Hi I’m participating in the Bout Of Books read-a-thon 17. It is from 22 August to 28 August.

I don’t have many books on my list this time. But I want to finish the books I’m currently reading. I want to shrink my currently reading pile down to just a few books. I have also been in a reading slump this month. So I hope this read-a-thon makes me want to read more again. But I’m taking it easy so I don’t get burned out. Follow me on Twitter for updates.

Information from the Bout Of Books website:

The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, August 22nd and runs through Sunday, August 28th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 17 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. – From the Bout of Books team

The books I’m reading:

  • Outlander by Diana Gabaldon

I’m halfway through this big book. I have not read in it the last months. It is good so I want to read it and finish it. I have around 450 pages left.

  • The Winner’s Kiss by Marie Rutkoski

I’m listening to this on an audiobook. It is the last book in the Winner’s trilogy.

Are you participating in the read-a-thon? Let me know 🙂

Sorry that this post is late. The read-a-thon has already started when I publish this.

Wrap Up: Booktube-A-Thon 2016

I’m so proud of how much I read this week. I think it is a new record for me. I read a total of 4 books and 1052 pages, and finished 4 challenges. I read some good books and some bad books this week.

This is the books I read:

More Happy Than Not by Adam Silvera 293 pages ★★★★★

The Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkoski 355 pages ★★★★☆

Zenith by Sasha Alsberg & Lindsay Cummings 62 pages ★★☆☆☆

Interview With the Vampire by Anne Rice 342 pages ★★☆☆☆

And this is the challenges I finished:

1.Read a book with yellow on the cover:

  • More Happy Than Not

2.Read a book only after sunset:

  • Zenith

3.Read a book you discovered through booktube:

  • The Winner’s Curse

6.Read and watch a book-to-movie adaptation:

  • Interview with the vampire

So I original had Zenith on challenge 3. But I changed it to The Winner’s Curse. I felt that I needed an audiobook.

Log of the week:

Day 1:

I started reading right after midnight the 18th. I started the readathon with More Happy Than Not. I read 217 pages. I really like the book so far.

I also started listening to The Winner’s Curse on audiobook. I found out that I needed an audiobook for the readathon.

Day 2:

I finished More Happy Than Not. It was so sad. Heartbreaking but so good. I highly recommend this book. I gave it 5 of 5 stars.

I also listened to 30 min of The Winner’s Curse. And started reading Zenith. Read 37% of Zenith.

Day 3:

I listened to 3 hours and 40 minutes of The Winner’s Curse today. I like the book. I listened to the book while I played the Sims 4.

Day 4:

I started Interview With the Vampire. This book is going to take longer time to read. I read to page 93.

Day 5:

Today has been a sunny day. I have been reading Interview With The Vampire on the porch. I read 110 pages. I feel that the book is really slow and boring.

I finished reading Zenith. The book was okay. It is really short. Too short to get into. But I like the setting and the idea of the book. I gave it 2 out of 5 stars.

Day 6:

I only read 87 pages of Interview With The Vampire. The book is boring. I want to DNF the book. But I’m continue reading it because of the read-a-thon. And I want to watch the movie when I finish reading it.

I also finished The Winner’s Curse. I liked the book. 4 out of 5 stars. I want to listen to book 2 ASAP. I also finished my build on Sims 4. I build a Romantic Garden Restaurant.

Day 7:

I finally finished Interview With the Vampire. I didn’t like it that much. I liked the overall story. But the pages dragged on and on. A vampire story should not be that boring. I gave it 2 out of 5 stars.

So I have to confess. I watched the movie the day after the readathon. I cheated a little bit. But that is okay haha. The movie was okay.

BookTube-A-Thon 2016

I had so much fun participating in the summer biannual bibliothon that was earlier this month. So when I saw that the BookTube-A-Thon 2016 was going to happen I had to join it. I’m not a book-tuber but I watch a lot of booktube. I’m going to participate in the reading challenges, but not the video challenges.

The BookTube-A-Thon is from July 18th to July 24th.

Here is the link to the BookTube-A-Thon’s youtube channel and video.

The challenges:

1/ Read a book with yellow on the cover

More Happy Than Not by Adam Silvera

This was on my list for the Biannual Bibliothon. But I didn’t manage to read it. So I’ll try to read it this read a thon. I think I’ll start with this book.

2/ Read a book only after sunset

Zenith by Sasha Alsberg & Lindsay Cummings

So where I live, in Norway. The sun is going down around 11 pm. I could not choose a long book, so I went with Zenith.

3/ Read a book you discovered through booktube

Zenith by Sasha Alsberg & Lindsay Cummings

Sasha Alsberg from Abookutopia is one of my favorite booktuber. And she and her friend Lindsay Cummings also a booktuber I believe, wrote this book together. I feel that this book is a good pick for this challenge, because two booktubers wrote it.

4/ Read a book by one of your favourite authors

This one was hard to choose. Because I wanted to read This Savage Song by Victoria Schwab for this challenge. But I have not yet received it in the mail. So I had to choose something from my shelves.

I choose to read Grave Peril by Jim Butcher. I want to read a fantasy book. And this is the 3 book in the Dresden Files. I like the books in the serie that I have read so far.

5/ Read a book that is older than you

Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury

This book is from 1953. It’s a classic. And I have not yet read it. It has been on my shelves for years. I need to read it now.

6/ Read and watch a book-to-movie adaptation

Interview With The Vampire by Anne Rice

I’m curious about this book. I don’t know if I’ll like it or not. But hey let’s try and read it, and watch the movie after.

7/ Read seven books

I have 5 books on this TBR. I don’t think I can finish 7. It is like impossible for me I think. I really want to try. But 5 is already a lot. Maybe if I read some graphic novels or mangas. But I’m not really into them right now.

Wrap Up-Summer Biannual Bibliothon 2016

It was so much fun participating in the Biannual Bibliothon . It was my first read a thon and I loved it. It was so much fun following and participate in sprint on twitter, and see what other people was reading. If you want to be friends on twitter, follow me and I’ll follow you back. I’m satisfied with what I read this week. I read 2 full book and a little bit of 2 other books. I read 870 pages total this week. Here is the books I read and challenges I finished:

This is the books I read:

Illuminae by Amy Kaufman & Jay Kristoff 600 pages

The Moorigan Dragon by Debra Kristi 120 pages

Golden Son by Pierce brown 80 pages

Outlander by Diana Gabaldon 70 pages

And this is the challenges I finished :

4 Read a book with your favorite mythical creature

  • The Moorigad Dragon

5 Read a book you’ve been putting off picking up

  • Illuminae

7 Read a book in a different format than you usually read

  • Illuminae

Log of the week:

I started the first day with Illuminae. I sat a goal to read it in 3 days. That is 200 pages each day. And the first day I read 170 pages, so I was a little bit behind. But I was proud, because it’s more than I usually read in a day.

Still reading Illuminae, and I got really into the book. And was enjoying it. I could not stop reading. It was thundering outside and raining. Perfect for a reading day. I was really proud of how much I read this day. 240 pages. I can’t believe it, probably a new record for me.

I finished Illuminae and it was awesome. It’s now one of my favorite books of all time. And it was perfect to read in a read a thon. I have to write a review on it asap. The book had me swimming in feels.

I also started a new book on my kindle. The Moorigad Dragon. I only read 17 pages of it that day.

I only read to page 65 in The Moorigad Dragon. Not the best reading day, but it was OK.

This day finished The Moorigad Dragon. I didn’t like it. Good thing it was a quick read.

I started reading Golden Son. I was on page 300 and read to page 360. This book is a slow read for me. But I am really enjoying it. What I mean by slow is that I probably only read 30 pages in one hour.

I only read 20 pages in Golden Son. But I read in another book that was not on my TBR for the read a thon. 70 pages in Outlander.

Bye Summer Biannual Bibliothon 2016 I had a great time

Summer Biannual Bibliothon 2016

I want to participate in the Summer Biannual Bibliothon 2016. It is a read a thon which will last from july 3 to july 9. You can find all the challenges and rules here .

I have not participated in many read a thons before, and this is my first Biannual Bibliothon. I don’t think I can finish all of the books on my list. But I will try to read at least two books. We will see. I’m really looking forward to participate in the read a thon.

  • 1 Read The Group Book – The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson

I want to participate in the group read, but I don’t own this book and I don’t really want to read it. So I will skip this challenge. Because I can’t read 5 books in one week.

  • 2 Free Choice/ Wild Card Book

Golden Son by Pierce Brown

This is the book I am currently reading. And I want to finish it.

  •  3 Read a Book Off of the Host’s List of Recommendations

More Happy Than Not by Adam Silvera

I choose More Happy Than Not from the list. I have wanted to read this book for a while. I hope I have time to start this book.

  • 4 Read a Book With Your Favorite Mythical Creature

The Moorigad Dragon by Debra Kristi

I had to choose a book I already own. And this was on my kindle. It is free on Amazon. I think this book has something to do with dragons, because of the title. Dragons are cool. All mythical creatures are my favorite, I can’t choose just one.

  • 5 Read a Book You’ve Been Putting Off Picking Up

Illuminae by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff

So I have been wanting to read this book for so long. It will be starting the read a thon with this book.

  • 6 Read a Book from an Author You’ve Never Read Before

More Happy Than Not by Adam Silvera

I doubled this challenge and chose More Happy than not. It is Adam Salveras first book. And I think it is the only book that is out from him.

  • 7 Read a Book in a Different Format than You Usually Read

Illuminae by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff

I doubled this challenge too. I often read both paper books and on my kindle. And I am not new to audiobooks either. So I choose Illumina because how this book is written is different from what I have read before. Every page looks different. And the layout of the book is really cool and  interesting.
