Top 5 Wednesday7Monthly Wrap Up AUGUSTl

Wednesday: TOP 5 WEDNESDAY // August 30th: Favorite Bromances

Friday: AUGUST 2017 MONTHLY WRAP UP // What I Read This Month

-DIARY

It has been 3 weeks since my last Sunday Weekly Update. I got in a little blogging slump this month, and I apologize fort that. I haven’t had a lot to tell you about anyway, because the last weeks hasn’t been the most eventful.

A lot of the reasons why I have been in a reading and blogging slump lately, is because I got addicted to the game Fallout 4 again. I bought it on the release date almost two years ago, but quickly became bored after a bug ruined my game. The bug has been fixed for a very long time, but I never got the urge to pick it up again. I’m currently building a Vault in the game. The Vault-Tec Workshop DLC has been pretty fun so far.

I have done some fun things these weeks though. Last Saturday I went to a festival in town with some friends, and yesterday I was at my aunts 50th birthday party. The theme of the party was hippies from the 60s. The party was so much fun, especially since everyone was dressed up.

TOP 5 WEDNESDAY // August 30th: Favorite Bromances

118368Top 5 Wednesday is created by Gingerreadslainey. Each week there is a new bookish topic, where everyone can join and create their top 5 list. You can find more information on the Top 5 Wednesday goodreads group. This week’s topic is:

FAVORITE BROMANCES.png

– I think we have done this topic before in the distant past, but who doesn’t love a good bromance? Bromance = platonic relationship between two characters who identify as male.

I’m sorry that I couldn’t find more than 3 picks this time. All of these bromances are truly some of my favorite friendship from some of my favorite books of all time.

Locke Lamora and Jean Tannen from The Gentleman Bastards series

Locke and Jean are my favorite characters from my favorite book series of all time. They grew up together like brothers even though they are not blood related. They care and have so much love for each other. I’m not talking about romantic love, even though they fight and bicker like an old married couple, haha. I had to pick this bromance first, because it’s my ultimate favorite.

Nakata and Hoshino from Kafka on The Shore

They didn’t know each other for very long, but they grew very close on the little journey they had together. Kafka On The Shore is one of my favorite reads this year, and that is because the book has some great characters. I love them all, but I especially love Mr. Nakata.

This is exactly how I pictured them in my mind. Link to source: HERE

Darrow and Sevro from the Red Rising trilogy

Darrow and Sevro grew so close in this series. Just like my first pick, this duo would have done everything for each other. I ❤ Sevro and his Howlers.

TOP 5 WEDNESDAY // August 16th: Characters’ Fitness Routines You Want

118368Top 5 Wednesday is created by Gingerreadslainey. Each week there is a new bookish topic, where everyone can join and create their top 5 list. You can find more information on the Top 5 Wednesday goodreads group. This week’s topic is:

Characters' FitnessROUTINES I WANT

– This can be interpreted a bunch of different ways! Fitness comes in many different packages. This can be about characters who are super fast, strong, agile, good at dancing, good at climbing, athletes, or foodies! Whatever it means to you. This is inspired by those routines you see in magazines for actors, but with more of an open mind and less body shaming 🙂

Even though I couldn’t work out for 5 min because of my chronic illness, a girl can dream. It was fun to put together this list and dream away to something that can never happen.

Shadowhunters

The fitness and training routine to become a good Shadowhunter always intrigued me. It sounds like fun and so much work to become a skilled Shadowhunter. I wan’t to be bad ass in a leather suit, and train with swords and other fancy gear that they use.

I haven’t watched the show, so the training I’m referring to is what I see in my head when reading the books.

fa6c9b08-a2e2-42e6-bbc0-0b5e588d3add

Mistborn

It would be so incredible awesome to be a Mistborn. It’s a lot of hard work behind mastering the Allomancy metals.

2c0d2120fced81b6e0d3a2c96f6c7500

Quidditch

I put this on the list, not because I want to be a pro quidditch player, but because it looks so much fun (and so scary) to fly with a broomstick.

Daniel-Radcliffe-as-Harry-Potter-Playing-Quidditch

Katnis Everdeen/Archery

This is actually something I wan’t to do in the future. I wan’t to try and shoot with a bow. It has been on my bucket list for many years. I just need to get more strength in my arms first. I don’t think I even could hold a bow with the arms I have now. Hopefully in a couple of years when my health is even better and my arms have more strength.

20170814_192600

I didn’t post a weekly update last Sunday because I was at a family garden party. My plan was to write and publish it the day after, but I decided not to. I didn’t have anything to write about besides the garden party anyway, because my week was pretty shit. I spent most of my time in my bed. This week on the other hand has been fantastic! My health and symptoms has been really good, and I have been out of the house almost every day. Weird how things can shift from week to week.

On Tuesday I had an appointment in town. Before the appointment I went to the library to deliver two books. After the appointment my mom and I grabbed a coffee together at a coffee place we really like. We also went to the mall that’s right besides town square. I did some shopping damage, hehe. I bought a new mascara, makeup remover and some hair curler thingies, I think they are called Bendy Rollers in English.

20170810_222135

Really bad picture, but this is how it’s going to look.

On Wednesday I went to my BF’s apartment. We are planning on slowly moving in together. I wan’t the apartment to look nice. I especially want to fix the bedroom since it looks pretty shitty at it’s current state. My BF doesn’t care, lol. I’m planning on making a headboard for the bed. I measured up how big I want the it to be. Hope it will turn out great in the end. I’m not very driven when it comes do DIYs, lets just say that I’m a big noob.

IMG_20170810_184941_590

On Thursday I was alone in the apartment all day. My BF works from early morning to late evening on Thursdays. I had a lot of energy that day and wanted to do something, but I couldn’t since everybody was busy. I don’t have many friends besides Emil, and the few I have was either busy or lives far away. I felt very isolated and lonely, and it made me really sad. I texted my brother and thankfully he said yes to come and get me after work. He drove me to the post office. I had some book mail laying there, YAY!!! We also went to a store that sells all kinds of stuff. I needed some things for the apartment, I bought a trashcan for the bathroom and some wash clothes. This little trip out of the house really saved my day and my mental health.

On Friday my mom and I met a friend of ours at a cafe in town. It was a really nice day so we sat outside and ate out meal. When we were finished with out meal we went to HM Home to take a look. I did some more shopping, can you believe it. I bought some cute decor items for the apartment.

20170814_173507

On Saturday I didn’t do much. I was tired after the week. I tried out the hair curlers that I bought earlier this week. The next day I had curly hair. Next time I’ll put something in my hair before rolling it so the curls will stay longer.

20786098_10154680791711345_4723769996094251273_o

I loved my makeup, hair and outfit in these pictures.

20170813_180430

I didn’t manage to write and post this post yesterday because we drove my brother to the city he is studying in. My brother is starting his third year as a engineer student. We met up with his GF and my cousin, and went out to eat dinner at a restaurant. It was a really nice ending to a really nice week.

I had so much fun this week. I can’t believe I managed to do so much. I was out of the house almost every day. I want every week to be like this, I don’t want to crash again.

I wish you all a great week!

TOP 5 WEDNESDAY // August 9th: Second Book is Best

118368Top 5 Wednesday is created by Gingerreadslainey. Each week there is a new bookish topic, where everyone can join and create their top 5 list. You can find more information on the Top 5 Wednesday goodreads group. This week’s topic is:

SECOND BOOKIS BEST

-We’ve talked about series that went downhill, and series that are worth it, but which series were best in the middle?

This weeks topic was so hard to find books for, since it is very similar to the one that was a couple of weeks ago.

The Winner’s Crime (The Winner’s Trilogy #2) by Marie Rutkoski

This book was on my T5W list a couple of weeks ago when the topic was: Series That Got Better. This series is a fantastic YA fantasy series, that I highly recommend. My favorite was definitely the second book, I just loved the setting and the intrigues in it.

Unravel Me (Shatter Me #2) by Tahereh Mafi

Now I’m going to sound like a broken record, because this book was also on the Series That Got Better post. I disliked book 1, liked book 2, haven’t read book 3 yet.

Tatiana and Alexander (The Bronze Horseman #2) by Paullina Simons

I have read book 1 and 2 in this series, and I love them both. I liked book two, Tatiana and Alexander, a tad bit more than book one, that’s why I had to include it on this list.

If you are interested I have a review on the book, click HERE.

Speaker for the Dead (The Ender Quintet #2) by Orson Scott Card

I liked book 2 The Speaker for The Dead so much more than The Ender’s Game. The sequel is very different from the first book, and it follows Ender when he is an adult. Book one was fast paced and a *we need to win this war* type of a book. The second book was a slower story about a strange new alien race, and finding out how they live their life and about their society. It’s also about Ender’s journey as The Speaker for The Dead. I really need to read book 3 since I own it, but I have heard so many negative things about the author that it’s keeping me from picking up his books.

The Lady’s Guide to Petticoats and Piracy (Guide #2) by Mackenzi Lee

This book isn’t out and it doesn’t even have a cover reveal yet. But I’m putting it on the list because it sounds so awesome! This is the sequel to The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue. I just finished it and I thought it was fantastic, but I might love this even more since it follows Felicity’s perspective.

Top 5 Wednesday August 2nd: Book Covers You’d Live In

118368Top 5 Wednesday is created by Gingerreadslainey. Each week there is a new bookish topic, where everyone can join and create their top 5 list. You can find more information on the Top 5 Wednesday goodreads group. This week’s topic is:

BOOK COVERS

YOU'D LIVE IN

– We all love a good cover but what are some covers you’d like to be transported into?

I love this weeks topic, it was fun to find covers that I would like to be transported into. I first went to my bookshelf and Goodreads shelf to find some covers, but I couldn’t find 5 books there so I had to search the interwebs to find the ones I like.

Firebird series by Claudia Gray

I LOVE the cover’s of these books. I haven’t read the books and I don’t know much about the series other than the main character jumps from different dimensions. I would like to get transported into the different places shown on these covers.

The Lies of Locke Lamora (Gentleman Bastard #1) by Scott Lynch

This is my favorite book of all time! I would love to visit Camorr, it sounds so beautiful since it is inspired by Venice. The towers you can see on these covers are the 5 Eldergladd towers that are in the city.

The Five Towers are five ancient Elderglass structures in the center of the port city of Camorr. –Camorr Wiki

Every Heart a Doorway By Seanan McGuire

Every Heart a Doorway (Wayward Children #1) by Seanan McGuire

I just finished this book, and it was very interesting. I would love to be transported into another world like the kids in this book, minus the big psychological factor of not be able to go back etc. Or just be transported into the nature that is shown on the cover.

Wednesday: Top 5 Wednesday July 26th: Series That Got Better

-DIARY

This week I have been participating in 2 readathons. The Summer Biannual Bibliothon and the BookTubeAThon. It was so much fun, and I have read a lot more books than I usually would in a week. You will have to wait for my full update to see how it went, but it will be posted some time next week.

IMG_20170725_201657_019On Tuesday my mom and I went to visit a friend in town. She just opened her own store and of course we had to take a look at it. After the visit we went and got a coffee together at Starbucks. Starbucks came to my city just a few years ago, so I haven’t tried everything on the menu. This time we went out of our comfort zone and ordered a frappuccino with caramel syrup. It was delicious, but oh so sweet and unhealthy. How can people drink this every day? I will definitely have one again, but only in the summer.

The last few months we have been planning that I will slowly move inn with my BF, or at least try it out. I had to wait until my Croatia trip was over, because I didn’t have the energy to do other things than prepare for the trip, both mentally and physically. This week I have packed down all of my books that was at my parents house and moved them to my BF. Books is the most important to pack, haha, and underwear. Now I finally have a nice place to store all of my books, yay! I’m not 100% happy with the layout of the books, but I have less space than I though. I think I need to purge some of the books I don’t like anymore. A book unhaul might come in the future.

20170730_130943

I have been at my BF’s apartment (our apartment?) since Wednesday, and it has gone pretty well. We had plans for a barbeque yesterday, but I didn’t feel so well. I have been struggling with some enhanced symptoms and body aching this week. I think it might have been a bug or something, because it’s not my usual symptoms.

20170730_131449.jpg

Do you have any tips on how I should organize this bookshelf?

I wish you all a great week!

– We’ve talked about series that went downhill with each book, but talk about series that are worth pushing through the first (or first few…) books to get to the good stuff!

I couldn’t find 5 series for this weeks topic, sorry for that.

Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi

I haven’t read the 3rd book in this series yet, but I have read book one and two. I liked the second book so much more than the first book, and I hope and think that I will like book 3. Even though this series isn’t my favorite, and I don’t think they are the best written books of all time, they are pretty fun to read.

The Winner’s Trilogy by Marie Rutkoski

This is a YA fantasy trilogy that I’m loving. I really liked the first book, but I’m picking this series because book 2 is my favorite.

-DIARY

It has been a really busy week for me. We came home from the Croatia trip on Saturday, and on Monday we drove to the west Norway to attend my grandmother’s funeral. I didn’t have time to tell you guys about my Croatia trip last Sunday, because I had to use the day to pack and relax. I’m going to tell you about my trip in this post instead.

20170723_130454.jpg

On Monday we drove for 8-9 hours after my BF got off work. It was a really long day, especially for him.

The funeral was the day after. I’m so happy I had the strength to go, and my BF was able to drive me. The funeral was beautiful and sad, and I cried a lot. First we went to the ceremony at the church, and the burial. After that it was a memorial where food and cake was served.

On Wednesday it was time to drive the 8-9 hour trip home. I would have liked to be there some day extra, but my BF had to get back to work. He almost couldn’t get off from work Tuesday and Wednesday.

The rest of the week I was exhausted. I haven’t done much the last days other than reading and working on some blog posts.

20170723_130341.jpg

MY CROATIA TRIP

Now I’m going to tell you about my Croatia trip. The trip was so fantastic! It was my BF’s dad’s family who arranged the trip. His sister and husband/BF invited everybody down there to celebrate their 60th birthdays. 20170709_14185320170716_150942

My BF’s father rented this beautiful house in a place called Sevid, 30 min outside Split Airport. In our house we were 12 people. It was my father in law and his girlfriend, and all of their children with significant others. The house was so big it didn’t feel cramped, and thankfully I got a room without much noise.

20170716_15115920170716_150205

Our flight went from Oslo Airport early in the morning, so we had to wake up at 4 am. That is a lot earlier than I’m used to, but it went pretty well. I’m shocked, haha. Pro tip for traveling: Buy yourself a pair of noise canceling headphones. It saved me on the trip.

20170716_15384920170716_150545

The days got spent beside the swimming pool tanning and having a good time. In the evening we went to the local and only restaurant by us. The food was delicious.

20170716_15064120170716_15082220170716_151025

On Saturday we went home to Norway. I wasn’t as scared as I thought I would be for the flight. The trip went so well, and I’m so glad I went. As you might know by now, I have ME/CFS and have been extremely ill for many years. The last 2 years I have slowly starting to get better. This trip was a HUGE step in my recovery for a “normal” life. Even though I couldn’t do everything and had to take breaks in my room, it’s a huge improvement from how it used to be.
